Tom Ruegger is the fourteen-time Emmy winning creator, producer writer and showrunner of beloved animated TV series including ANIMANIACS, PINKY AND THE BRAIN, TINY TOON ADVENTURES, ROAD ROVERS and HISTERIA!. He developed, produced, showran and wrote FREAKAZOID, and served as executive producer and writer on BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES.
He began his career at Hanna-Barbera, where he served as an assistant animator and animator on multiple cartoon series. Tom honed his writing skills at Filmation Studios, then returned to Hanna-Barbera serving as story editor and producer on Scooby Doo and The Pound Puppies. In 1988, Tom created and produced A PUP NAMED SCOOBY DOO, the first Scooby incarnation to be nominated for an Emmy Award as “Best Animated Series.”
Tom joined Warner Bros. Animation in 1989 to head up production of Steven Spielberg presents TINY TOON ADVENTURES. Thus began a decade-long creative collaboration with Steven Spielberg resulting in five enormously successful series (TINY TOONS, ANIMANIACS, FREAKAZOID, PINKY AND THE BRAIN, and PINKY, ELMYRA & THE BRAIN), resulting in ratings success, a worldwide fan base and over 30 Emmy Award victories in numerous categories.
As the creator of Animaniacs, Tom served as senior producer, show-runner, story editor, writer and lyricist on the series. The series went on to win multiple Emmys as well as the Peabody Award for Outstanding Achievement in Animation Programming.
For Bandai Namco Entertainment, Tom developed and wrote “PAC-MAN AND THE GHOSTLY ADVENTURES.” For Disney Television Animation, he developed, produced, wrote and showran DISNEY’S THE 7D. More recently, Tom has developed stories and written scripts for Apple-TV's THE SNOOPY SHOW.
