About Paul Rugg, the voice of Freakazoid and writer of Animaniacs
Paul Rugg
Peabody and Emmy Award-winning writer, actor, and producer, Paul Rugg co-developed Steven Spielberg Presents: Freakazoid! Spielberg also cast Rugg as the voice of the show’s main character, Freakazoid...thus launching Paul on his voice over career.
Paul was also one of the original writers for Animaniacs and helped develop the characters of Yakko, Wakko and Dot, eventually writing over 40 shorts featuring the titular trio. Paul also provided the voice of Mr. Director, a Jerry Lewis-esque character and frequent victim of the Warner’s antics.
Rugg has lent his voice to many animated programs including Dreamwork’s Puss In Boots, Kung Fu Panda, Captain Underpants, Peabody and Sherman, Cleopatra in Space, Nickelodeon’s Pig Goat Banana Cricket, Disney’s 7D, Dave The Barbarian, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and Jake Long: American Dragon.
More recently, Paul provided the voice and was the lead puppeteer of Ned, the 7 foot tall, blue-skinned alien who hosts the Jim Henson Company’s Earth To Ned, currently on Disney+.
Oddly enough, Paul is probably best known as the man who gets bitten by his Chihuahua in one of 2017s most viewed viral videos. Since its debut, ‘How I Relax’ has gone on to garner more than 200 million views.
